Panthers Defeated in First Road Dual

Lincoln, Ne.- The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team was defeated by the University of Nebraska Huskers 6-1 in Lincoln, Nebraska this afternoon. The only Panther win came from freshman Chelsea Moore in her singles match.
The day started with the doubles flight matches. In the No.1 Doubles spot, Laia Gonzalez-Garrido and Phoebe Walker were defeated by the team of Madeleine Geibert and Stefanie Weinstein from Nebraska 8-5. Jessica Kunzelmann and Krissy Lankelma were beat by the Husker's Patricia Veresova and Janine Weinreich 8-2 in the No. 2 Doubles match. Chelsea Moore and Lara Okicki were defeated 9-7 in the No. 3 Doubles match by the Nebraska team of Jennifer Holmberg and Frederike Putthoff.
The Panthers continued to struggle in the singles flights. Walker suffered a loss in the No. 1 Singles match to Geibert 6-4, 6-4. In the No.2 match, Gonzalez fell to Veresova of Nebraska 6-0, 6-1. Okicki was defeated by the Husker's Weinstein 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 3 Doubles match. In the No.4 slot, Kunzelmann was beat by Weinreich 6-2, 6-1. Lankema fell to Zeppernick of Nebraska 6-2, 6-3, in the No. 5 singles match. Moore had the lone win of the day that came in the No. 6 singles match. She defeated Abby Buxton of Nebraska 6-4, 6-2.
The Panthers will be in action tomorrow against Eastern Michigan at 11:00 a.m.in Lincoln, Nebraska.
