UNI Falls to Western Illinois, 1-0

WATERLOO, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team allowed a goal in the 44th minute and was unable to answer, falling 1-0 against Western Illinois on Wednesday night at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.
Miranda Graham scored the Western Illinois goal with a corner kick in the 44th minute. Graham's corner kick flew untouched into the far corner of the goal, giving the Leathernecks a 1-0 lead before halftime.
UNI was able to utilize a strong wind to improve its offensive attack in the second half, but could not find the back of the net.
Western Illinois (4-3-3) outshot UNI, 17-9, for the match. Nicole Ferlito recorded three of the Panthers' nine shots.
Junior goalkeeper Lauren Potzman registered six saves for UNI.
UNI (2-8-1) will host Creighton in a Missouri Valley Conference match on Sat., Oct. 2. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.
