Panthers Slide by Kangaroos

The UNI Panthers women's tennis team (5-3) won its second straight dual match as they defeated the UMKC Kangaroos (1-7) 4-3 on Sunday. The Panthers improved to 5-2 at the Black Hawk Tennis Club, winning their second home match of the weekend.
Talia Jang-Stewart and Laia Gonzalez-Garrido fell in No. 1 doubles to UMKC's Eva Dalvai and Chelsea Horner 8-6. The Panthers No. 2 and No. 3 doubles pairs took care of business, however, and earned them the first team point of the match. At the No. 2 spot, Laia Gonzalez-Garrido was defeated by Laura Bouet 6-1, 6-1. Senior Sampada Kanade, competing at the No. 3 spot, was victorious in her match versus Chelsea Horner, winning 6-4, 6-2. Sophomore Jessica Kunzelmann followed the lead of Kanade, defeating Jillian Yakominich in No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-2. Stefannia Sampaio and Katy Delagardelle were topped off by UMKC in singles play as they loss at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions. Sampaio was edged out by Suzan Lisenby 6-4, 6-2 while Delagardelle was defeated by Holly Davis 6-3, 6-1.
The Panthers' next match will be March 5th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as they face the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
