CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team recorded its second consecutive tie of the season going into double overtime against Western Illinois Friday evening. Neither team scored after the first period, leaving a final score of 1-1.
Freshman Kiki MCClellan scored the Panthers lone goal of the contest in the 12th minute on a header off Morgan Olsen's shot.
The Fighting Leathernecks responded in the 27th minute to knot the score when Jill Kevorkian scored for WIU.
UNI was outshot 23-17 in the contest. Panther goalkeeper Lauren Potzman recorded six saves in the match.
UNI returns to the field Sunday, Sept. 13 facing Eastern Illinois. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
