University of Northern Iowa's Everette Pedescleaux has signed a free agent contract with the Denver Broncos of the National Football League. Terrell McMoore, Sean McMoore, Darrell Lloyd and Bob Swift have all been invited to free agent tryouts as well.
Pedescleaux is a native of Plymouth, Minn., and a graduate of Armstrong High School in the Minneapolis area. Pedescleaux, who was named a third-team Associated Press All-American, registered 62 total tackles, 11.5 tackles-for-loss and 6.5 quarterback sacks in 2008. He played in 51 career games for the Panthers, while starting in 21 of those contests. He helped lead the Panthers to playoff appearances in 2005, 2007 and 2008 along with a trio of conference titles. He finished his career with six blocked kicks, one away from the school record.
Sean and Terrell McMoore, seniors from Minneapolis, Minn. (Washburn HS), have been invited to try out with the Minnesota Vikings in a camp later this week. Lloyd, a senior from O'Fallon, Mo. (Fort Zumwalt HS/Iowa Central CC), has been invited to the Vikings tryout this week and a Chicago Bears tryout next week. Swift, a senior from Manchester, Iowa (West Delaware HS) has been invited to a free agent workout by the Cleveland Browns.
Sean McMoore played in all 15 games, while drawing 10 starts in 2008. Sean tallied 33 tackles in the season and intercepted two passes.
Terrell McMoore started all 15 games and led the Panthers in interceptions with five in 2008. Terrell tallied 59 tackles and was credited with seven pass breakups. Terrell earned second-team all-MVFC honors as a senior.
Lloyd, a first team all-league selection in 2008 and a second-team all-conference pick in 2007, ranked fourth on the team with 97 total tackles in 2008. Lloyd intercepted two passes and blocked three kicks this season. One of Lloyd's blocked kicks came on an extra point against Youngstown State, which helped the Panthers to a 21-20 victory over the Penguins.
Swift was named to the honorable mention all-Missouri Valley Football Conference team in 2008. He also earned honorable mention all-academic league honors with a 3.05 grade point average in exercise science. Swift started every game this season for the Panthers, including seven games at right tackle and eight games at left guard. UNI averaged nearly 200 yards per game on the ground and Swift as a part of the offensive line helped limit the opposition to only 12 sacks of UNI quarterbacks this season. Swift was named the MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week after helping UNI to a 31-17 win over Illinois State (10/11).
