
Huskers Handle Panthers, 6-1

LINCOLN, Neb.- The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team fell 6-1 to Nebraska Saturday. The loss snaps the Panthers' eight-match winning streak. The loss is the Panthers' second (8-2) while the Cornhuskers improve to a perfect 9-0.
UNI started the match off showing some promise, earning the doubles point. After Northern Iowa's Sampada Kanade and Diana Mendez lost to Nebraska's Jana Albers and Madeleine Geibert 8-2 in No. 1 doubles, the Panthers rallied to win the next two matches. In the No. 2 spot, Laia Gonzalez-Garrido and Taynara Moraes defeated Maria Ring and Mary Weatherholt in the No. 3 position, 8-6.
The Cornhuskers recovered and took over the match in singles play, winning every remaining match. Madeleine Geibert defeated Sampada Kanade, 6-3, 6-2 (No. 3). Wiveca Swarting cruised past Sampada Kanade, 6-3, 6-2
