The University of Northern Iowa volleyball team topped Bradley 3-0 in Missouri Valley Conference action to win its 12th straight match Friday night at the Markin Family Student Recreation Center. UNI (14-2, 5-0 MVC) won the match by scores of 25-10, 25-16 and 25-13.
UNI held the Braves (8-10, 0-5 MVC) to .022 hitting in the match, including a .000 hitting percentage in the second set and a -.029 percentage in the third.
Amy Braun and Michelle Burow each finished with eight kills in the match. Bre Payton finished with 27 assists and four aces, and Ellie Blankenship led the Panthers with 12 digs. Burow led UNI with four blocks.
In the first set, UNI scored six straight points, including a trio of service aces from Payton, to take an early 7-1 lead. UNI led by at least five and as many as 16 on the way to the 25-10 set victory.
Bradley kept the second match close early, but the Panthers went on a 10-2 run to build a 15-6 advantage. Bradley was able to pull within six, 19-13, but the Panthers were able to close out the set for a 25-16 win.
UNI never trailed in the third set, jumping out to an 11-4 lead and holding at least a five-point advantage the rest of the way.
The Panthers return to action on Oct. 9 when they play at Indiana State.
