Hawkeyes Down Panthers in Season Opener

The No. 51 Iowa Hawkeyes (2-0) shut out the UNI women's tennis team Sunday in their season opener in Iowa City. The Panthers fell 6-0 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles, making the final team score 7-0.
The match began with doubles play as the No. 1 pair of Sampada Kanade and Sampada Kanade in No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-3. Freshman Sampada Kanade (UNI) 6-3, 6-3

The Panthers will return to more friendlier confines for the next month as they begin a nine-match home-stand with a double-header Friday, Jan 30. UNI will take on North Dakota at 1 p.m. then Chicago State at 6 p.m. at the Black Hawk Tennis Club.
