Panthers Finish Ninth at Weibring Intercollegiate

The University of Northern Iowa men's golf team fired a final round 295 to move up and finish in ninth place at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate, hosted by Illinois State University. The tournament was played at Weibring Golf Club, a par-70 course of 6,681 yards.
UNI entered the final 18 holes in 12th position, but was able to move up three spots for its final placing, shooting 293-301-295—889. The Panthers passed Oakland, Bradley and Creighton today and ended just two shots behind Eastern Illinois, who finished eighth. Illinois was the team champion after shooting 276-279-276—831.
Troy Hoffman and Tyler Johnson tied as UNI's top individual finishers, each tying for 40th place after shooting three-round 223 totals. Scott Langley of Illinois was the tournament medalist with a 201 total score.
This was UNI's final meet of the fall season, as the team will resume play in the spring of 2009.
