Panthers Top Wartburg 2-0 in Exhibition Match

Freshman forward Colleen Gallagher scored twice in the first half to lead the
Gallagher's first goal came in the sixth minute when Laura Wagner hit her with a pass and she was able to break away up the middle. The second score came in the 38th minute when Gallagher was able to drive in a goal after Wartburg's keeper left the box.
The Panthers took 17 shots in the game, compared to four for Wartburg. Heidi O'Mara and Krista Thorley combined for the shut out, each standing in goal for a half for UNI.
"Overall it was a good game, but there are still things we need to do better," UNI head coach Kathy Kakoyianni-Bering said. "We came out a little sloppy, and we're still solidifying our defensive shape. We had some good possessions, and we had a lot of people stepping up and possessing the ball. We were also able to play everyone, so we were able to gain some experience and get some minutes."
The Panthers will open the regular season on Friday when they play at
