Panthers Slice to Conference Win

The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team defeated the visiting Southern Illinois Salukis 5-2 Friday under a blazing spring afternoon sun. The win moves the Panthers to 13-3 overall and 3-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference and the Salukis move to 4-10 and 2-2.
After struggling last weekend, Mariana Muraca and Meghana Paritala both stormed back with two wins. Muraca defeated Zoya Honermand 6-2, 6-1 and teamed with Paritala to defeat Maria Blanco and Tana Trapani 8-3. Paritala won her singles match against Blanco 6-2, 6-4.
The Panthers host the University of Evansville at 9:30 a.m. Sunday (April 17) at the Black Hawk Tennis Center.
