Panther Women Fall 3-4 in MVC Opener

CEDAR FALLS -
The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team hosted conference foe and intrastate rival Drake Friday afternoon and were defeated 3-4.
The Bulldogs went into the final two matches needing to win just one. That win came from Daria Zawislak who defeated Meredith Esbeck 6-3, 6-1.
The best match of the day came from Mariana Muraca and Cheen Alkahatib. The two battled it out for three sets and was decided by a third set tiebreaker. Muraca prevailed 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (7-3).
The loss moves the Panthers to 7-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The Panthers are in action at 9:00 a.m. Sunday, (March 6) against Northern Colorado at the Black Hawk Tennis Club.
