
Tennis Team Fights Off Western Illinois 6-1

The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team faced a hard fighting Western Illinois team Friday afternoon, but prevailed 6-1. The Panthers hadn't dropped a match all season but lost their first one in the closest match of the season.
Freshman Agnese Pukse battled with Christine Haas for nearly two hours, lost her singles match, 6-7 (2-7), 6-2, 5-7. Pukse was down 1-4 in the third set, battled back to force a 5-5 tie before Haas won the final two games.
Senior Jaime Noyce is off to an amazing start, winning both her matches today to bring her record to 12-0 this season. She had nine total wins last season. The Panthers are in action Sunday (Feb. 27) at 10 a.m. against Southeast Missouri State at the Black Hawk Tennis Club.
