
UNI Moves to 3-0 With 72-47 Win Over Upper Iowa

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 72-47 victory over Upper Iowa University on Sunday evening in the UNI-Dome.
In the Panthers' first performance this season in the UNI-Dome, the 3,862 fans saw 11 different UNI players reach the scoring column. Sophomore Eric Coleman led the way with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field.
Upper Iowa (1-7 overall) gave UNI all it could handle in the first half and trailed by only six points, 27-21, at the intermission.
UNI struggled from the perimeter all night including a 1-for-9 effort in the first half. UNI finished the game shooting only 19.2 percent from beyond the arc on 5-of-26 shooting.
UNI took control of the contest early in the second half as the Panthers scored the first seven points to close an 11-0 run which started with 2:39 remaining in the first half.
The Panthers never looked back after that decisive run and eventually led by 28 points with 1:51 remaining in the game.
Junior Grant Stout tallied a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with eight points. Stout also blocked a season-high four shots in the game.
UNI will travel to Iowa State on Tuesday night to take on the Cyclones in Hilton Coliseum at 7:05 p.m.
