Panthers Defeated by UW-Green Bay

Green Bay, Wisc. - The University of Northern Iowa women's swim team fell short to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix, 173-103, this afternoon at Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Panthers finished first in one of 16 events, but claimed second and third in seven events where they pushed up the points.
Freshman Katie Klinkenborg (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) earned the only first-place finish of the night in the 200 yard fly, timing in at 2:15.00, moving her into the UNI Women's All-Time Individual Top Five in that event.
Another freshman, Melissa Little (Lawrence, Kan./Lawrence) claimed a second-place finish in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:20.67. Junior Lauren Mendel came in right behind her at 11:37.48, earning Mendel a third-place spot.
The Panthers also competed for a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. Sophomore Jamie Keefer (Spencer, Iowa/Spencer), freshman Ashley Hunter (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley North), freshman Katie Maloy (Auburn, Ind./R.Nelson Snider), and junior Erin Danielson (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) raced in with a time of 1:44.42.
The swim team hosts its first dual meet of the season at 2 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 5th) as it welcomes Illinois State to the Wellness and Recreation Center Pool.
