
Panthers lose at DePaul

The UNI women's soccer team lost their sixth game of the season tonight in Chicago, Ill., 6-1 vs. DePaul University. The game was close at halftime, 1-0, but the Blue Demons were on a terror in the second period scoring five goals.
The Panthers scored their lone goal in the 69th minute when junior Jillian Carroll (St. Thomas Aquinas) drilled a penalty kick past the keeper. It was Carroll's first goal of the season.
The Blue Demons outshot the Panthers 11-6 in the second half and 18-10 for the game. DePaul tied a school record six goals and were led by Julianne Sitch and Erin Walter who each scored twice. Freshman Krista Thorley (Ontario, Canada) recorded seven saves on the night for UNI.
The Panthers drop to 0-6-2 on the season while DePaul improves to 4-3. UNI returns home for a match vs. Tulsa on September 23rd. The game will start at 6:00 p.m. at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.
