
Panthers Trip At Iowa, 77-50

Cedar Falls, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball squad fell to the University of Iowa today at Carver Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, 77-50. The Panthers were paced by Emily Berry's 16 points and 5-for-6 performance behind the three point arc.
Junior center Cassie Hager contributed 11 points and five rebounds on the afternoon while Alex Cook grabbed eight points and eight rebounds in the contest. The Hawkeyes were led by Crystal Smith who recorded a game high 21 points.
UNI found themselves down by double digits in the first half when the Panthers came firing back to cut an Iowa led to six with under seven minutes left to play. The Panthers headed into the locker room at halftime, trailing 40-28.
The second half pitted trouble for the Panthers as they went 8-for-26 from the floor and could only reach the free throw line four times in the final stanza. The Hawkeyes bench also proved to a problem for the Panthers as they were outscored 31-to-15.
With the loss the Panthers fall to 4-2 on season while Iowa improves to 6-0. UNI returns home this Saturday to take on Iowa State in the West Gym at 4:05 p.m.
