
UNI Wraps Up Pre-Conference Play With Win Over Chicago State

All 15 players that dressed for UNI saw action in tonight's game as the Panthers took a 64-46 win from Chicago State.
Senior forward Alex Cook led all players with 18 points, going 100 percent from the free throw line with six baskets. Cook added seven rebounds, two blocks and three steals on the night. Junior Cassie Hager scored in double digits with 11 and picked up four blocked shots, all in the second half. Hager has now 39 blocks on the season. Sophomore guard Sarah Larsen had a break-out night for the Panthers, scoring a career-best eight points and adding four assists.
After falling behind 2-0 in the opening minutes, it was all UNI as Hager scored the first seven points for the Panthers, giving them a lead they would not relinquish. As a team, UNI shot 55.6 percent from the field connecting on 15-of-27 attempts and hitting one of two three-pointers in the first half. Hager led UNI with 11 points behind five-of-six shooting from the field. Cook added eight points and Jessie Biggs chipped in six while four other Panthers scored in the half.
The Panthers improve to 6-5 on the season while Chicago State drops to 5-5 overall. UNI will open up conference play at home on New Year's Day against Wichita State. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. The Panthers will then play host to Southwest Missouri State on Jan. 3 at 5:35 p.m.
