Cedar Falls, Iowa - Brad Penrith will be inducted into the Glen Brand Wrestling Hall of Fame on April 23, 2005. Penrith is in his fifth season as the head coach of UNI's wrestling squad, leading the Panthers to three finishes in the top 20.
The Glen Brand Hall of Fame is located in the International Wrestling Institute and Museum in Newton, Iowa. The exhibition is dedicated to "honoring the great individuals who achieved the highest level of success in the sport of wrestling, whether they were native born Iowans or attended Iowa schools."
Penrith was a three-time NCAA finalist for the University of Iowa at 126 pounds and captured the 126-pound championship in 1986. He also won three Big Ten titles, a silver medal at the World Championships in 1991 and captured gold at two Pan-American games. In 1992, Penrith was the only American ranked number one in the world.
The New York native now resides in Cedar Falls with his wife, Laura and children, Gabriel (5), Jacob (3) and Grace Marie (1).
