UNI Wrestling Signs Drew Bennett

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Doug Schwab and UNI wrestling signed the Outstanding Wrestler Award winner from October's USA Wrestling Preseason Nationals.
Drew Bennett of Fort Dodge, Iowa, earned the top honor at the USA Wrestling Preseason Nationals held Oct. 28. He won the 126-pound weight class.
Bennett is ranked No. 13 on IAWrestle's Fab50 list.
The senior has two third-place state medals at two weights. He wrestled at 106 pounds as a sophomore and 113 pounds as a junior. He has notched a high school record of 85-4 in the last two seasons.
Last year, he won the Iowa/USA Junior Freestyle championship at 120 pounds and second in the Greco division. He was second at the 2017 Northern Plains Greco-Roman in the 126-pound weight class.
In 2016, he won the Iowa/USA Junior Greco State championships at 113 pounds and took second in the freestyle division. Bennett took third in both divisions in 2015 at 106 pounds.
Bennett holds a 3.9 GPA and joins current teammate Cayd Lara, who signed earlier this week.
In all, five preps ranked in the nation's top 20 have signed to join the Panthers in the 2018-19 season:
