Jacob Wierich joined the UNI external relations staff in November 2023 as Director of Marketing before being promoted to his current role as Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing in July 2025.
A graduate of Northern State University, Wiedrich oversees the department and athletic teams marketing efforts, manages gameday scripts and promotions and supervises marketing interns and support staff. He also manages the department's licensing program.
Wiedrich came to UNI after spending the last year and a half as the Coordinator of Athletic Marketing and Events at Northern State, where he created and created and implemented marketing & promotional plans for the Wolves' 13 NCAA Division II teams. Under his supervision, Northern State led all of Division II men's and women's basketball in attendance, posted the highest attendance in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) in six sports and oversaw marketing efforts that helped set a single-game school record crowd in football.
Kids Club membership grew to a record number of members under Wierdrich's leaderships at Northern State, with social media followers and engagement growing as well. Wiedrich also oversaw the creation of game scripts, oversaw game day productions, managed NSU's Golf Classic fundraising event and worked event operations during the NCAA Super Regional Wrestling Tournament.
Wiedrich previously worked as a sales executive with the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League (USHL), helping increase revenue through sales to new and existing clients. He also assisted in setting a new franchise record for consecutive sold out games and supported game day operations and event management.
Having graduated from Northern State in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in business marketing, and a minor in marketing and administration, Wiedrich was an two-time All-NSIC punter on the Wolves football team having set multiple program records, and a member of the NSU track team.
