Jacob Wiedrich joined the UNI external relations staff in November 2023 as Director of Marketing before being promoted to his current role as Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing in July 2025. Wiedrich oversees the athletic departments marketing/promotional efforts, advertising and supervises marketing department. He also manages the athletic department's licensing program along with TC's Kids Club.Â
The UNI Athletic Department's marketing team was recognized with a pair of distinct honors from the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) at its 2025 convention. Northern Iowa's "Panthers In Paradise" promotion during the men's and women's basketball season was honored with a silver award in the category of Student Engagement. UNI was also recognized for its "Takedowns And Tattoos" promotion, also receiving a silver award in the Single Game Attendance/Sellout Campaign category. The following year at the 2026 NACMA convention Northern Iowa's "Main Street Madness" event was honored with a gold award in the category of Community Engagement. UNI was also recognized for its "Takedowns & Tattoos" wrestling promotion for a second consecutive year, receiving a silver award, this time in the Sponsorship Campaign category.
Before coming to UNI, Wiedrich spent the last year and a half as the Coordinator of Athletic Marketing and Events at Northern State University, where he created and created and implemented marketing & promotional plans for the Wolves' 13 NCAA Division II teams. Under his supervision, NSU led all of Division II men's and women's basketball in attendance, posted the highest attendance in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) in six sports and oversaw marketing efforts that helped set a single-game school record crowd in football. Kids Club membership grew to a record number of members under Wiedrich's leaderships at Northern State, with social media followers and engagement growing as well. Wiedrich also oversaw the creation of game scripts, oversaw game day productions, managed NSU's Golf Classic fundraising event and worked event operations during the NCAA Super Regional Wrestling Tournament.

Prior to his time at Northern State University, Wiedrich previously worked as a sales executive with the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League (USHL), helping increase revenue through sales to new and existing clients. He also assisted in setting a new franchise record for consecutive sold out games and supported game day operations and event management.

Wiedrich graduated from Northern State Universtiy in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in business marketing, and a minor in marketing and administration. He was a two-time All-NSIC punter for the Wolves football team and still holds multiple program records. He also competed for the NSU Track & Field team, as a pole vaulter.
