Melissa Stueve (MS, ATC/L, CSCS) joined the staff as the head athletic trainer for the UNI Cross Country and Track & Field programs in 2013.
Before UNI, Stueve served as an associate athletic trainer at Carson Newman College, Jefferson City, TN, from 2009-2012. She provided coverage for the men’s soccer, women’s basketball and cheer and dance teams for the Eagles. She also served as a clinical instructor for the athletic training education department.
Stueve has also served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Arizona State University from 2007-2009, where she primarily worked with the men’s and women’s tennis teams and assisted in the coverage of pre-season and home football games.
Stueve earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in athletic training and physical education from Luther College in 2007. She then earned her Master's of Science in athletic training from A.T. Still University, Mesa, AZ, in 2009 with a thesis entitled: The Effects of Kinesio Tape on Muscular Strength of the Forearm Extensors on Collegiate Tennis Athletes.
Stueve is trained in the Graston Technique, Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitations, Cupping, Dry Needling for Orthopedic Rehabilitation and Sport Performance, and Active Release Technique for the Lower Extremity.
In addition, Stueve is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She is also a member of the National Athletic Training Association (NATA).
Melissa and her husband, Travis, have one daughter, Makenzie, and one son, Teagan.
