FRESHMAN (2021-22): Played in all 34 games averaging 12.2 minutes per game … Finished the season with 185 points, 41 rebounds, 59 assists, 24 steals and one block … Shot 38.6% from the field (66-171), 30.1% (51-156) from the three-point arc, and 81.2% (52-64) from the free throw line … Recorded a season-high 15 points against Graceland (12/6) while shooting 6-of-12 from the floor, and 3-of-4 at the charity stripe … Tied career-highs in rebounds (5) and steals (5) against Graceland, and matched career-best with 10 assists at St. Thomas (12/1) … Ended season with the eighth highest career free throw percentage in program history.
FRESHMAN (2020-21): Played in 27 games and averaged 10.5 minutes per game...Named to the MVC All-Freshman Team...Also earned MVC Newcomer of the Week (1/25) recognition...Ended the season with 136 points, 31 rebounds, 43 assists, and seven steals...Shot 41.0% (43-of-105) from the field, 36.5% (23-of-63) from the three-point line, and 84.4% (27-of-32) from the charity stripe...Recorded a career-high 20 points at Indiana State (1/22) while shooting 6-of-6 overall, 3-of-3 on three-pointers, and 5-of-5 on free throws...Dished out a career-high nine assists against Evansville (2/28) while nearly posting a double-double...Ranked third on the team in assists...Fourth in career free throw percentage (84.4%) at the end of the season featuring an 18-of-18 streak to close freshman year.
HIGH SCHOOL: McDermott was a four-year All-State honoree and a team captain at Johnston High School...She helped lead Johnston to the Class 5A state championship in the 2019-20 season...Also selection as captain of the All-Tournament Team after posting class-record 21 assists...She scored 437 points as a senior and had 128 assists and 99 rebounds…In her junior year, she led the Dragons with 475 points (19.0 PPG) and 139 assists which was good enough for fourth in the state for all classes…Broke the school record with 437 career assists to go along with 1,615 career points...In 2018-19, Johnston finished the year with a 22-3 record and lost in overtime of the Iowa Class 5A state semifinals to eventual champion West Des Moines Valley...In her freshman year, she hit a hook shot and a three-point buzzer-beater to force overtime and help the Dragons eventually win to earn a trip to the state tournament...She was a four-year soccer player and led Johnston with 14 goals as a junior.
