ST. LOUIS --- UNI junior Jadyn Petersen has been named Missouri Valley Conference's (MVC) Libero of the Week for volleyball respectively, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
The selection is the third weekly conference honor in Petersen's career.
The selection comes after Petersen's contributions in UNI's season-opening weekend at the Cyclone Invitational in Ames, where the Panthers picked up a five-set win over Loyola-Chicago, with losses to Georgia Tech and Iowa State.
In 12 sets played, the Dike, Iowa native averaged 3.58 digs per set, including 18 digs in the Panthers' valiant effort against Iowa State. Petersen also notched a .982 receptions percentage on 55 attempts with just one receiving error.
In addition to Petersen, Illinois State's Ruth Ziegler was named the MVC's Player of the Week, while Bradley's Adeline Goedheer was selected as the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Petersen and the Panthers return to action on Thursday as UNI heads to Vermillion for the South Dakota Classic, kicking off tournament action against Air Force at 4 p.m. CT. Live coverage of the match can be found on ESPN+ and the Panther Sports Radio Network (106.5 FM Corn Country / 93.5 HD-2).
