ST. LOUIS — The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) released the 2026 MVC Scholar-Athlete team on Tuesday morning, which featured four Panthers. The 32-player team featured MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Tuti Jones from Belmont, along with four Panthers, Ryley Goebel, Kaylynn Janes, Bri Robinson, and Taryn Wharton. This is the 18th consecutive season the Panthers have had at least one name on the MVC Scholar-Athlete list, dating back to 2006-07.
This is Ryley Goebel's third consecutive appearance on the Valley's Scholar-Athlete list and Taryn Wharton's second appearance after an Honorable Mention nod after the 2023-24 season.
Goebel, a senior forward from Urbana, Iowa, recorded a 3.83 GPA in nursing en route to her third straight appearance on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team.
Janes, a sophomore guard from St. Louis, Missouri, finished with a 3.7 GPA in exercise science to make her first appearance on the MVC's Scholar-Athlete Team.
A junior guard from Lincoln, Nebraska, Bri Robinson recorded a 3.83 GPA in biochemistry, making her first appearance on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team.
Taryn Wharton, a guard from Bellevue, Nebraska, posted a 3.74 GPA in nursing, making her second appearance on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team.
The Panthers continue the 2025-26 season in the MVC Tournament in Coralville, Iowa from March 13-15. The Panthers will take on the Braves of Bradley on Friday, March 13 at 2:30 p.m.
The criteria for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team voting parallels the CSC (College Sports Communicators) standards for Academic All-America nominations. To be nominated, a student-athlete must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA, both as an undergraduate and graduate student, where applicable. If a GPA has not been established as a transfer student, the cumulative GPA from the nominees' previous institution must be used. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing. Redshirt freshmen are not eligible. Eligible nominees must compete in at least 75 percent of the regular season OR must start in at least 50 percent of the institution's games.
