WATERLOO, Iowa — The UNI women's tennis team opened its spring season on Saturday afternoon, falling 5-2 to Southeast Missouri State at the Black Hawk Tennis Center.

Sophomore Andjela Raznatovic led the Panthers with a strong performance at the top of the lineup, earning a straight-set victory at the No. 1 singles. Raznatovic battled through a tight first set before securing a 7-6, 7-3 win over Sofia Zemtsova to give UNI its first single point this spring.

Freshman Lucia Schuknecht added the Panthers' second point of the match, picking up an impressive win at No. 3 singles. Schuknecht cruised in the opening set and closed out a competitive second set to defeat Yontha Tadoum 6-1, 7-6.

Southeast Missouri State claimed the doubles point after earning 6-4 victories on all three courts. UNI pairs Andjela Raznatovic / Lucia Schuknecht, Yangjiaxin Li / Andrea Noa Galin, and Kayla Santosa / Kanyanut Sudsaard each battled closely in their matches.

In singles play, SEMO earned wins at the No. 2, 4, 5 and 6 spots. Yangjiaxin Li competed at No. 2, while Andrea Noa Galin, Kayla Santosa, and Abbie Peterson filled out the lower half of the UNI lineup. Peterson forced a deciding third set at No. 6 before Mia Mayerová secured the final point.

Saturday's match marked UNI's first home dual of the spring season and featured several Panthers making their Spring dual debuts.

The Panther will travel to St. Charles Missouri and compete against Lindenwood on Friday, January 30th at 12:30 p.m. CT.
