Jadyn Petersen earns MVC Defensive Player of the Week honors

Redshirt freshman picks up first weekly conference award after Panthers win tournament title in Green Bay.
ST. LOUIS --- UNI redshirt freshman Jadyn Petersen has been named the Missouri Valley Conference's (MVC) Defensive Player of the Week for volleyball, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
The selection is the first weekly conference honor for Petersen, who joins her mother Bobbi (Becker) and sister Sydney as the third member of her family to earn MVC weekly honors.
Petersen's honor comes after the Dike, Iowa native led the Panther defense with 46 total digs (5.1 per set) last week in Northern Iowa's three-set sweeps of Tennessee Tech, Western Michigan and Green Bay in northern Wisconsin at the Capital Credit Union Classic. She also posted a .933 reception percentage on 45 attempts with ten or more digs in all three outings.
Twelve matches into the regular season, Petersen leads the MVC with 167 total digs and fourth in digs per set 4.28, while also leading UNI with 11 service aces on the year.
Petersen joins outside hitter Cassidy Hartman as the second Panther to earn weekly conference honors this season after Hartman was named the MVC Player of the Week last week.
In addition to Petersen being named the MVC Defensive Player of the Week, UIC's Julieta Sandez was selected as the MVC Player of the Week, while Indiana State's Ava Robart was named MVC Freshman of the Week.
Petersen and the Panthers return to action on Friday as UNI opens MVC play at UIC. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago with live coverage available on ESPN+ and the Panther Sports Radio Network (106.5 FM Corn Country / 93.5 HD-2).
