Junior outside hitter earns first weekly conference honor after career-high 23 kills against Iowa State and two double-doubles in Omaha.
ST. LOUIS --- UNI volleyball's Cassidy Hartman has been named the Missouri Valley Conference's (MVC) Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
The selection is the first weekly conference honor for Hartman, who was named to the Preseason All-MVC Team in the offseason and named a Second Team All-MVC selection and AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention performer in 2024.
Hartman's honor comes after the North Liberty, Iowa native led the Panthers with 63 total kills (4.5 per set) last week against Iowa State at home, as well as Rice, No. 4 Louisville and No. 18 Creighton at the Bluejay Invitational in Omaha. She notably tallied a career-high 23 terminations with a double-double in the Panthers' four-set win over the Cyclones, and also surpassed 500 career kills in the victory.
At the Bluejay Invitational, Hartman, a junior outside hitter, posted back-to-back double-double performances against both Rice and Louisville, her third and fourth of the 2025 season. Hartman also recorded double-digit kills in all four matches last week, having done so in six total matches this year.
Nine matches into the 2025 campaign, Hartman ranks second in the MVC with 10.9 attack attempts per set, third in kills per set (3.9) and fourth in both total attacks (327) and total kills (117).
In addition to Hartman being named MVC Player of the Week, Valparaiso's Lilly Merk and Keira Lucas were named the league's Defensive and Freshman of the Week respectively.
Hartman and the Panthers return to action beginning Thursday at the Capital Credit Union Classic in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where UNI will face off against Tennessee Tech, Western Michigan and Green Bay to close out the non-conference portion of this year's schedule. Live radio coverage of all three matches can be found on the Panther Sports Radio Network (106.5 FM Corn Country / 93.5 HD-2).
