LEXINGTON, Ky. --- For a 14th consecutive year, the UNI volleyball team has been named a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) Team Academic Award, presented by INTENT.Â
Honorees for the 2024-25 season were announced by the AVCA with the Panthers also earning a special team honor roll distinction for posting a team grade-point average (GPA) in the top 20% among NCAA Division I programs.
"It is very exciting to see that the record-setting, on-court successes during the 2024-25 season have extended to the classroom," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "The fact that more programs earned the Team Academic Award than ever before is evidence of how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their goals as both students and athletes."
UNI has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award 16 times under head coach Bobbi Petersen, finishing the previous academic year with a 3.77 cumulative GPA. This is also the fourth straight year the Panthers have earned honor roll distinction as part of their team award.
The award, first handed out during the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball programs at both the collegiate and high school level that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale. More than 1,450 collegiate and high school programs were recognized for this past school year.
The Panthers are scheduled to open the 2025 season on Aug. 29 when they host Arizona State at 6 p.m. CT inside the McLeod Center. New season tickets can be purchased through the UNI Ticket Office or by calling 319-273-4849. Single-match ticket sales will be announced at a later date.
