CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI student-athletes continued to show exceptional academic growth both individually and as collective teams during the spring 2025 term, once again surpassing department goals.
The spring semester saw nine of UNI's 15 teams record a semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher, including 11 over 3.35. Collectively, Panther student-athletes posted a semester GPA of 3.37 and a cumulative of 3.41, both surpassing the metrics laid out in the athletic department's strategic plan.
"It's so wonderful to see our student-athletes not only excel athletically, but in the classroom as well," said Andrea Greve Coello, UNI's Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development. "Our student-athletes once again showed their ability to achieve in the classroom while balancing the challenges of competing in their respective sports. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and commitment!"
UNI's volleyball team led all Panther programs with the highest term GPA with a 3.80, while also boasting the most improved team average from the fall 2024 semester. The men's basketball program meanwhile recorded the highest men's semester GPA (3.36)
Individually, 332 of UNI's 416 student-athletes (77%) registered a semester GPA of 3.00 or higher this spring, with 54% coming in at 3.50 or higher. Cumulatively, 80.7% of Panthers maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better, with 52.8% of the department over 3.50.
