Panther soccer unveils 2025 match schedule

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The UNI soccer team on Monday announced its 16-match schedule for the upcoming 2025 season, including nine home fixtures at the UNI Soccer Field and nine Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) matchups.

Northern Iowa will begin its 26th season in program history under the leadership of interim head coach Alex Place Thomas with an Aug. 9 exhibition against North Dakota State in Minneapolis. The 2025 campaign will kick off officially on Aug. 14 on the road at South Dakota, followed by a road match on Aug. 17 at Milwaukee.

UNI's first home contest of the year will take place on Aug. 24 as the Panthers host Western Illinois at 1 p.m. CT. Following an Aug. 28 trip to St. Thomas in St. Paul, Northern Iowa will begin a season-long four-match homestand on Aug. 31 against Viterbo, while also hosting St. Ambrose (Sept. 4), Iowa State (Sept. 11) and Indiana State (Sept. 18), the latter in its MVC opener.

The Panthers will then hit the road for three straight conference fixtures at Murray State (Sept. 25), at Belmont (Sept. 28) and at Valparaiso (Oct. 4), setting up an Oct. 11 showdown with Illinois State in a 2024 MVC Tournament rematch. UNI will close the regular season with its final road contest at Drake (Oct. 18) before hosting Evansville (Oct. 23), Southern Illinois (Oct. 26) and UIC (Oct. 30) in Cedar Falls.

The 2025 MVC Tournament is scheduled to begin on Nov. 2 and run through Nov. 9 with the league's top six teams qualifying. Quarterfinal round matches will be hosted at campus sites on Nov. 2, with the semifinals and championship matches set to be hosted by the regular season champion, Nov. 6 and 9.
