Panther football standouts show off skills at 2025 Pro Day

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Representatives of 12 NFL franchises were on hand on the UNI campus on Monday afternoon as UNI football held its annual Pro Day. Panther athletes were measured and completed the bench press, vertical jump, and broad jump inside the Wellness Recreation Center before heading to the Doug and Ann Goschke Outdoor Practice Facility for the 40-yard dash, three-cone drill, and shuttle run.
Nine Panther athletes from last season and two former Panthers were drilled in front of scouts, media, and fans ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.
An offensive lineman measuring 6-3, 320 pounds, Hayden Amos finished with 24 reps on the bench press, a 26-inch vertical, and an eight-foot-seven-inch broad jump inside the WRC. On the field, Amos ran a 5.37 40, a 7.85 three-cone, and a 4.72 shuttle.
A member of the MVFC All-Newcomer Team, JJ Dervil recorded a 36-inch vertical and a 10-foot-two-inch broad jump as well as 15 reps on the bench press. On the field, the defensive back ran a 4.53 40 and a 7.03 three-cone.
An All-MVFC Honorable Mention selection, Desmond Hutson measured in at 6-2, 219 pounds. The wide receiver completed 17 reps on the bench press before jumping a 34.5-inch vertical and a nine-foot-five-inch broad jump. After running a 4.84 40, Hutson ran a 7.03 three-cone and a 4.38 shuttle.
Another Panther wide receiver, Sergio Morancy measured in at 6-1, 189 pounds. The All-MVFC First Team Return Specialist, Morancy completed eight reps on the bench press while jumping 36.5 inches on the vertical and 10-feet-six-inches in the broad jump. Morancy ran a 4.6 40 along with a 7.13 three-cone and a 4.43 shuttle.
An All-MVFC Second Team offensive lineman, Jared Penning measured in at 6-5, 320 pounds. Penning finished the indoor portion of pro day with 22 reps on the bench press and a 26-inch vertical jump. Outside, the lineman ran a 5.22 40, a 7.63 three-cone, and a 4.81 shuttle.
The lone running back in the group, Amauri Pesek-Hickson weighed in at 236 pounds standing 5-11. The back completed 16 reps on the bench and jumped 10 feet in the broad jump and 37.5 inches in the vertical. After running a 4.66 40, Pesek-Hickson completed the three-cone in 6.9 seconds and the shuttle in 4.38.
Defensive back Robbie Peterson Jr. measured in at 5-11, 186 pounds. Peterson Jr. completed 17 reps on the bench before recording pro-day highs in the vertical and broad jump with jumps of 38.5 inches and 10-feet-10-inches respectively. On the field, the defensive back ran a 4.62 40, a 7.03 three-cone, and a 4.34 shuttle.
Tight end Layne Pryor recorded the most reps on the bench press at UNI's 2025 pro day with 31. The 6-2, 260-pound All-MVFC Honorable Mention selection recorded a 36.5-inch vertical and a nine-foot-three-inch broad jump before heading outside. On the field, Pryor ran the second-fasted 40 with a 4.60 before a 7.13 three-cone and a 4.5 shuttle.
The final 2024 Panther athlete was offensive lineman Tristan Roper. An All-MVFC Honorable Mention, Roper measured in at 6-4, 311 pounds. The lineman finished with 16 reps on the bench press, a 24-inch vertical, and an eight-foot-two-inch broad jump. After running a 5.22 40, he recorded a 7.56 three-cone and a 4.75 shuttle.
A pair of former UNI athletes, Cordarrius Bailey and Devin Rice, also drilled at UNI's 2025 pro day. Rice finished with a 29-inch vertical jump, his lone drill, while Bailey finished with 26 reps on the bench press, a 27-inch vertical, and an eight-foot-eight-inch broad jump. Bailey posted times of 5.07 in the 40, 7.22 in the three-cone, and 4.5 in the shuttle.
The 2025 draft will be held in Green Bay from April 24-26.
