UNI swimming and diving opens 2025 MVC Championships with relays and team diving

Panthers win exhibition team diving event with a pair of sixth-place relay finishes.
WAUKEE, Iowa — The UNI swimming and diving team kicked off day one of the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championship on Wednesday night at the Waukee CSD Natatorium in the Des Moines metro. The first day of competition saw Northern Iowa secure a pair of sixth-place finishes to open the meet and divers winning the exhibition team event.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Competition started off with the 200-yard medley relay that saw the team of Elyse Brayton, Ema Lavigne, Hannah Nedder and Faith Larsen secure sixth place with a time of 1:41.71, the seventh-fastest mark in team history.
The meet then transitioned to the exhibition team diving event that showcased Trista Thompson, Avery Hogan and Erica Peters. While no team points were scored, the Panther trio totaled a score of 270.70, beating out Illinois State (258.75) by 11.95 points and also set a new school record.
Ending the first day of competition in the 800-yard freestyle relay, the UNI team of Hallory Domnick, Morgan Meyer, Natalie Harris and Olivia Chambers placed sixth with a time of 7:23.37, the second fastest time in program history. Chambers also notably recorded an anchor leg split of 1:50.86, tenth fastest in team history.

Day two of the MVC Championships begins on Thursday with preliminary heats at 10:30 a.m. CT and finals at 6 p.m. CT. Thursday's events include the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, one-meter diving competition, and 400-yard freestyle.
