UNI Athletics celebrates October Student-Athletes of the Month

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI Athletics is proud to honor four outstanding student-athletes with Athlete of the Month awards for October 2025.
The award recipients, voted on by members of UNI's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for their achievements in the month of September, include Tysen Kershaw (football), Calen Bishop (men's golf), Olivia Knoepfle (soccer) and Cassidy Hartman (volleyball).
TYSEN KERSHAW
A wide receiver from Fort Dodge, Iowa, Kershaw hauled in a team-high 184 receiving yards and 12 catches during the month of September. Notably, he caught a 79-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Matthew Schecklman on the first play from scrimmage in the Panthers' 17-14 win over Eastern Washington.
CALEN BISHOP
In the first three men's golf tournaments of the fall season, Bishop, a Johnston, Iowa native tied for the team lead with a stroke average of 72.88 per round in tournaments at Kansas State, Drake and SIU Edwardsville. He shot two rounds of 69 at the SIUE Dolenc Invitational and notably tied for tenth individual at the Zach Johnson Invitational.
OLIVIA KNOEPFLE
Knoepfle, an Andover, Minnesota native, led the UNI soccer team with three goals in the Panthers' five matches in September, notably netting two goals against Indiana State in Northern Iowa's Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) opener at home. She also took 11 shot attempts on goal during the month.
CASSIDY HARTMAN
Hartman posted a team-high 172 kills (3.91 per set) in September, notably setting a new career-high 23 terminations against both Iowa State and Drake. The North Liberty, Iowa native tallied five double-double performances and was named the MVC's Player of the Week on Sept. 15, as well as the Capital Credit Union Classic All-Tournament Team.
