Three Panthers named 2024 CSC Academic All-District honorees

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced their Academic All-District honorees for their 2024 football season and a trio of Panthers were recognized. From the CSC, "The 2024 Academic All-District® Football teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom."
This season, offensive lineman Blake Anderson, tight end Derek Anderson, and defensive back Jonathan Cabral Martin were named to the 2024 CSC Academic All-District squad.
BLAKE ANDERSON
A 3.69 GPA student with a majoring in both Kinesiology and Exercise Science as well as Physical Education, Blake Anderson anchored an offensive line that allowed only eight sacks on the season and allowed a top-six team passing efficiency of 132.98.
DEREK ANDERSON
A 4.00 GPA graduate student currently in UNI's master's program for Kinesiology and Sport Performance, Derek Anderson played both ways at tight end and defensive line. He recorded 13 total tackles in six games on the defensive line including 2.5 tackles for a loss of seven yards. On the offensive side of the ball, he recorded 70 yards on six receptions with a long of 26 yards and a two-point conversion reception. Anderson graduated with his bachelor's degree in Psychology with an emphasis in pre-law last year with a 4.00 GPA.
JONATHAN CABRAL-MARTIN
A 3.67 GPA student with a major in Communications, Jonathan Cabral-Martin was second on UNI's defense in total tackles with 80 tackles on the 2024 season. Led UNI with 44 solo tackles. Recorded a career-high 13 tackles against St. Thomas and recorded double-digit tackles in three matchups.
