Anna Jensen earns first MVC Golfer of the Week honor

ST. LOUIS --- UNI redshirt senior Anna Jensen has been named the Missouri Valley Conference's (MVC) Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon. The selection is the first weekly conference honor of her collegiate career.

A native of Dubuque, Iowa, Jensen led the Panthers this week at Murray State University's The Velvet Classic, tying for fifth-place individually with a final score of 226 (+10) to help Northern Iowa finish in fourth-place out of 16 teams. Jensen was also the highest placing MVC athlete in a tournament that also saw golfers from Belmont, Murray State, Southern Illinois, Indiana State and Evansville.

An All-MVC performer last season, Jensen also led UNI with a 19th place individual place finish at last week's Redbird Invitational, shooting a season-best 224 with a low round of 70 in the second round of action.

Jensen and the Panthers return to the links Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the Diane Thomason Invitational, hosted by the University of Iowa at Finkbine Golf Course.
