CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — A pair of former UNI All-Americans were picked up by the NFL following the conclusion of the 2024 NFL Draft. Two-time All-Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) and Second Team All-American wide receiver Sam Schnee penned a contract with the Tennessee Titans while two-time All-MVFC and Second Team All-American defensive back Woo Governor signed with the Las Vegas Raiders.
A native of Dubuque, Iowa, Schnee was both UNI's and the MVFC's leading receiver with 1,041 total receiving yards and 94.64 per game as well as 18.26 yards per reception in 2023. Schnee had three games with 100+ receiving yards last season, including a season-high 174-yard performance against No. 9 North Dakota State with a season-long 66-yard reception against Missouri State.
A 2023 team captain, Schnee scored six touchdowns on the season, the fifth-best mark in the MVFC and moved to seventh on UNI's all-time receiving yards list and the 11th player in school history to record over 2,000 career receiving yards. He is the first wide receiver from Northern Iowa to ink a deal in the NFL since Daurice Fountain was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 2018.
A native of Plant City, Florida, Woo Governor recorded 61 total tackles and three tackles for a loss of ten yards last season. He forced an MVFC-leading two fumbles along with three pass attempts, and tallied a season-high 13 tackles against No. 1 and reigning FCS national champion South Dakota State. This is the second straight year a UNI defensive back has made an NFL roster after Benny Sapp III was signed by the Green Bay Packers.
