Samantha Heyer claims her third MVC Honor of the season

After a 24-strikeout week, Samantha Heyer was named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week.
ST. LOUIS — For the third time this season, Samantha Heyer was named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week as announced by the MVC league office on Tuesday evening.
Heyer was previously honored on February 27 and April 2 this season. This honor marks the ninth time in her career receiving Pitcher of the Week honors after receiving the honor on six occasions last season.
Last week, Heyer struck out 24 batters over three games and finished the stretch with a perfect 3-0 record and a 0.60 earned run average. She only gave up 10 hits in her 15 innings pitched totaling a .192 opponent batting average. Against Illinois State, Heyer recorded her sixth double-digit strikeout game with 10 strikeouts against the Redbirds including the first six straight batters in Saturday's doubleheader game one.
The Panthers return to action on Wednesday when they face the Hawkeyes of Iowa in the Panthers' final home game of the season at 5 p.m. CT. They then travel to Valparaiso for their final series of the regular season before a trip to Normal, Illinois for the MVC Tournament hosted by Illinois State May 8-11. All of these matchups can be streamed on ESPN+.
