CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- Four members of the UNI swimming and diving team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Teams, as announced by CSC on Tuesday.Â
Amber Finke, Faith Larsen, Hannah Nedder and Erica Peters all earned All-District recognition for the 2023-24 season, recognizing their combined performances on the pool and in the classroom. In addition both Finke and Larsen were named finalists on the CSC's Academic All-American ballot.
Nomination criteria include holding a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.50 or better, being a sophomore standing or higher both academically and athletically and playing a key role in the lineup with participation in at least half of all scheduled team competitions. This is her second career All-District honor from the CSC
A senior from Carol Streak, Illinois, Finke is majoring in biology with a 3.99 cumulative GPA. A First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) swimmer, she also earned MVC Scholar-Athlete Team honors this season en route to finishing second in both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke at February's MVC Championships in Evansville, along with podium finishes as part of UNI's 400-yard freestyle and medley relays.
Hailing from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Larsen posted a 4.00 GPA majoring in both political science and public policy to earn her second consecutive CSC Academic All-District honor during her junior season. The recipient of the 2024 MVC Elite 17 Award for swimming and diving, given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA in each conference championship, Larsen claimed her second straight MVC title in the 50-yard freestyle and contributed to the Panthers' 200-yard freestyle championship and conference record. She also was part of Northern Iowa's 400-yard freestyle and medley relay teams, and earned a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team.
A sophomore native of Pella, Iowa, Nedder is majoring in communications disorders with a 4.00 GPA, earning her first CSC Academic All-District nod. Selected to this year's MVC Scholar-Athlete Team, Nedder swam in seven events at this year's MVC Championships, including the 50 and 100-yard freestyle, the 100-yard butterfly, the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relay and the 200 and 400-yard medley relays.
Hailing from Ankeny, Iowa, Peters recorded a 3.94 GPA while studying statistics and actuarial science during her sophomore year. Earning All-MVC Honorable Mention status this season and MVC Scholar-Athlete Team recognition, Peters placed eighth in the one-meter competition at the MVC Championships in February and 11th on the three-meter boards. Peters also improved on her career-best scores during the season, continuing to climb the program's top-ten all-time list in both competitions.Â
College Sports Communicators' Academic All-America Team selections will be voted on and announced in mid-April.
