UNI football lands six on All-MVFC list

The Panthers earned one first-teamer, one second-teamer, and four honorable mentions after the 2024 season.
CEDAR FALLS — The Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) announced their all-conference selections on Monday afternoon as voted on by head coaches, sports information, and media personnel.
This season, six Panthers were named to the All-MVFC teams including Sergio Morancy being named first-team return specialist, Jared Penning being named second-team offensive line, and Tye Edwards, Tristan Roper, Layne Pryor, and Desmond Hutson being named Honorable Mentions.
Sergio Morancy - RS
A wide receiver from Naples, Florida, Morancy led UNI receivers with 543 yards and seven touchdowns on 37 receptions. Averaged 14.68 yards per reception with a long reception of 69 yards against Indiana State. Led the MVFC with four touchdowns and 24 points in a single game. Was one of three players in the Valley to score three receiving touchdowns in the same game. Became the first UNI Panther to run back a punt and a kickoff in the same season since 2016. Ran back the first punt since 2016 for UNI and the first kickoff since 2016. Was one of five MVFC players to return a punt for a touchdown. Second in the Valley and eighth in the nation in kickoff return touchdowns (1) and kickoff return yards per game (27.7). Was first in the Valley and third in the nation with a punt return TD. Was fifth in the Valley and 35th in the nation with seven receiving touchdowns.
Jared Penning - OL
An offensive lineman out of Clear Lake, Iowa, Penning anchored an offensive line that allowed only eight sacks on the season and allowed a top-six team passing efficiency of 132.98.
Tye Edwards - RB
A running back out of Palatka, Florida, Edwards led the UNI rushing effort with 1,012 yards and six touchdowns. Was UNI's first 1,000-yard rusher since Aaron Bailey (1,334) and Tyvis Smith (1,079) in 2015). Was one of three players in the Valley to rush for over 1,000 yards on the season. Was the only player in the Valley to go over 200 rushing yards in a single game with 229 yards against Indiana State. Third in the MVFC and 12th in the nation in rushing yards per carry (6.45), third in the Valley and 26th in the Nation in rushing yards (1,012), and fourth in the conference and 36th in the nation in rushing yards per game (84.3).
Tristan Roper - OL
An offensive lineman out of Blue Springs, Missouri, Roper anchored an offensive line that allowed only eight sacks on the season and allowed a top-six team passing efficiency of 132.98.
Layne Pryor - TE
A tight end out of Woodbine, Iowa, Pryor finished The season with 242 yards and two touchdowns on 30 receptions.
Desmond Hutson - WR
A wide receiver out of Raytown, Missouri, Hutson finished the season with two touchdowns on 38 receptions and 466 yards. Hutson averaged 38.83 yards per game and 12.26 yards per reception.
