Experienced college football recruiter takes on an increased role under head coach Todd Stepsis
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – University of Northern Iowa football head coach Todd Stepsis confirmed on Thursday that he had promoted Logan Meyer to the role of general manager. Meyer joined the Panthers as director of football operations in July 2024 and has been integral in helping Stepsis and his coaching staff hit the ground running at UNI.
"Logan has really been essential in our staff's transition to UNI," Stepsis said. "Even before we arrived, he was working diligently to keep our group of committed players connected to the program along with members of the previous staff. And since we got here, he's been a go-to guy in terms of getting things done, getting our new coaches acquainted with our recruiting targets and helping coordinate a myriad of other important details.
"It became apparent to me very quickly Logan is a talented young man who we need to keep around," Stepsis continued. "I'm thankful for his dedication to the Panthers and I'm particularly grateful that he will be able to help me oversee our recruiting and personnel strategy."
Meyer spent the 2023 season as general manager at Marshall University prior to his arrival in Cedar Falls. In that role he utilized a variety of tools to help the coaching staff evaluate talent and prioritize needs as he coordinated all of the recruiting operations for the Thundering Herd, including all campus visits and coaching travel schedules. He will utilize that experience to play a similar role for the Panthers working in conjunction with Stepsis and the UNI coaching staff.
The Cincinnati native spent the 2022 campaign as associate director of player personnel and recruiting communication coordinator at Auburn University after a two-year stint as director of player personnel at Miami University in Ohio.
He began his collegiate football career working for current University of Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell at the University of Cincinnati. He originally joined the Bearcats staff as a recruiting intern in the spring of 2016. That fall he was promoted to player personnel assistant. He then served as on-campus recruiting coordinator for Fickell's squad for the 2017-19 seasons. Meyer holds a degree in communications and public relations from Cincinnati.
