Darryl Anant to provide live music in the McLeod Center during upcoming basketball season.
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI fans will be treated to a live disc jockey at all men's and women's basketball games this coming season inside the McLeod Center.
On Monday, the UNI Athletic Department announced that Darryl Anant of Elite DJs will help provide a live soundtrack to Panther home games for the 2024-25 season.
"We've made improving the fan experience at our home events a priority this year," said Scott Peace, UNI's Senior Associate Athletic Director for Revenue Generation. "The addition of an in-arena DJ for our men's and women's basketball season is yet another example of that. We are thrilled to watch UNI alum, DJ Darryl and his team take the energy in the McLeod Center up a notch."
Anant, a Cedar Falls native and graduate of both Northern University (NU) High School (also known as Price Lab School) and UNI, has served as a DJ and MC host for the last 16 years for hundreds of private events, weddings and bar shows, cultivating a high energy and fun atmosphere in the Cedar Valley area, as well as Cedar Rapids and Des Moines. Anant's company has also DJ'd Waterloo Black Hawks hockey games, as well as weddings in six different countries around the world.
"Elite DJs was born out of the premise where we strive to provide high quality entertainment while making those unforgettable memories along the way," explained Anant. "We live up to every single letter of our motto,"Always the life of the party"! No matter where you're at, we'll bring the party to you! Having grown up in Cedar Falls and being an alumni of NU High, a student of UNI and a hardcore Panthers fan since middle school, the opportunity to DJ at home for one of the most talented schools in the state, with even more talented coaches while being front and center, will be nothing short of the best of dreams!"
Anant will make his debut at tomorrow's UNI women's basketball exhibition against Quincy at 6 p.m. CT. He will make his men's basketball debut on Nov. 4 when the Panthers battle Dubuque at 7 p.m. CT.
Tickets for both UNI men's and women's basketball can be purchased through the UNI Ticket Office or by calling 319-273-4849.
