Matthew Cook named 2023 Walter Camp All-American

Matthew Cook was honored with another All-American award following the 2023 season.
CEDAR FALLS — The Walter Camp announced their 2023 FCS All-American team and Matthew Cook was named the All-American placekicker. The Walter Camp All-Americans are voted on by FCS sports information directors and are administered by the Walter Camp Foundation.
27 players from 21 different schools and eight conferences were honored in this year's team. Seven athletes from the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) were named to the team.
This season, the senior placekicker ended his career after maintaining a perfect mark in PATs going 155-for-155 in his career. Of those 155, 31 came this season and were paired with 19 field goals for a total of 88 points, the second-highest mark in the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC). Cook became the second player in MVFC history to cross the 400-point threshold and the first to do so in UNI history. He recorded a league-high 1.73 field goals per game and a 90.48 field goal percentage with a long of 50 yards against Indiana State. Cook broke the UNI scoring record this season which was set by David Johnson in 2014.
