Arends claims Panthers’ first conference honor of the 2023 season.
ST. LOUIS, Mo. — UNI offensive lineman Chase Arends has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference's (MVFC) Offensive Lineman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is Arend's first MVFC honor of his career and the first for the Panthers in the 2023 season.
Arends, a redshirt senior out of Cedar Falls, Iowa, played a critical role in the 41-17 Panther victory over Idaho State on Saturday, helping anchor an offensive line that did not allow a sack over the course of the entire matchup. With the time he was given, quarterback Theo Day recorded a career-high 388 passing yards and two touchdowns including a 53-yard touchdown pass to Sam Schnee.
Arends has started all three games for the purple and gold at the center position this season and was named a captain after a team vote prior to the season kickoff.
The Panthers hit the bye week fresh off their victory against Idaho State, but will be back in action on Sept. 30 in their MVFC opener against No. 24 Youngstown State inside the UNI-Dome. The game can be watched on the Panther Sports Network or listened to on the Panther Sports Radio Network.
