Biscoglia, Realbuto punch tickets to NCAA's in first session of Big 12 Championships

TULSA, Okla.— UNI wrestling punched tickets for its first two NCAA qualifiers in the opening session of the Big 12 Championships on Saturday.
Kyle Biscoglia secured his spot in the semifinals at 133 pounds with a quarterfinal win over South Dakota State's Derrick Cardinal in a 12-2 major decision. Biscoglia qualifies for the NCAA Championships for the second time in his career after finishing as the Big 12's runner-up last season. Biscoglia will take on third-seeded Zach Redding of Iowa State this evening in the semifinal round.
Colin Realbuto also earned his second automatic NCAA berth at 141 pounds after a pair of opening session wins on Saturday, defeating South Dakota State's Alek Martin in an 8-2 decision, before taking down seventh-seeded Chris Sandoval (Northern Colorado) in a 16-1 major decision. Realbuto will face third-seeded Paniro Johnson of Iowa State in tonight's semifinals.
Parker Keckeisen (184 pounds) secured his spot in Saturday night's semifinal round as he seeks a third straight automatic berth with commanding victories over Quayin Short (Wyoming) in a 22-6 technical fall, and 16-3 major decision against eighth-seeded Anthony Carman (West Virginia). Keckeisen will match up with fourth-seeded Colton Hawks of Missouri for the semifinal round tonight.
Five additional Panthers will continue in the consolations brackets as Kyle Gollhofer (125 pounds), Cael Happel (141 pounds), Derek Holschlag (157 pounds), Austin Yant (165 pounds), Lance Runyon (174 pounds), Noah Glaser (197 pounds) and Tyrell Gordon (285 pounds) look to secure spots at the national championships.
The semifinal and consolation quarterfinals will be held beginning this afternoon at 5 p.m. CT. Consolation semifinals and seventh place matches will begin at noon CT on Sunday. All matches for the second and third sessions can be watched on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
