Panther volleyball to host Purple and Gold Scrimmage

Free admission offered for UNI's home preseason intrasquad contest
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI volleyball returns to action next Wednesday, Aug. 17 as the Panthers begin the 2022 season with its annual Purple and Gold Intrasquad Scrimmage.
First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the McLeod Center. All spectators are invited to attend free of charge. While no concession or alcoholic beverage service will be available, fans are permitted to bring outside food and non-alcoholic beverages to the scrimmage.
"The Purple and Gold Scrimmage will be about a week into our training," head volleyball coach Bobbi Petersen said. "It will be a great way to get on the court in an atmosphere that is different from practice and have a more match-type-feel. We will get a chance to put some things together, work through different things and play in front of our awesome fans!"
The Panthers will travel to DeKalb, Illinois on Saturday, Aug. 20 at 3 p.m. for another preseason scrimmage against Northern Illinois. UNI is slated to open the regular season on Aug. 26 at the Sun Devil Volleyball Classic in Tempe, Arizona against Toledo and Arizona State.
UNI's first home match of the fall will take place on Friday, Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m. against Western Michigan as part of the Panther's home tournament.
