CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- Following Thursday night's NBA Draft in New York, former UNI Panther AJ Green has signed a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Green's two-way deal allows the 6'5" guard to spend time with both the Bucks, as well as the team's NBA G-League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd in Oshkosh.
Green, who declared as an early entrant for the NBA Draft in April, worked out with a number of teams during the spring and participated in the NBA's G-League Elite Camp this May in Chicago. The Cedar Falls native averaged 17.8 points per game during his Panther career, scoring 1,769 total points, the fourth most in school history. He also became the program's all-time leader in career three-point field goal attempts (704) and free throw percentage (90.0%).
During his four seasons for the purple and gold, Green was part of two MVC regular season championship teams in 2020 and 2022, with him being named the league's Player of the Year in both seasons. In a career that spanned 51 total victories with UNI, Green was a two-time First Team All-MVC selection, while also being named the league's Freshman of the Year in 2019 and earned Third Team All-MVC honors. Academically, Green was a two-time recipient of the MVC's Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award (2020, 2022), and was also a finalist for the 2022 Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award, given to the top mid-major player in Division I.
Green is expected to join the Bucks for the NBA 2K23 Summer League in Las Vegas, which will be held July 7-17 at the Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus. Milwaukee's first scheduled game of the Summer League schedule is set for July 8 against the Brooklyn Nets.
