CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Isaiah Weston is the second Panther to join the NFL ranks in the 2022 season.
The Cleveland Browns picked up Weston, a wide receiver, as a free agent. Weston joins Trevor Penning, a first-round draft pick, as the first Panthers to receive offers from NFL teams for the upcoming season.
Weston finished in the top three among wide receivers in three events completed at the NFL Combine. He was only one of three wide receivers who completed the bench press rotation. He led the field with 20 reps. He was second in the vertical jump with a leap of 40 inches. He tied for second in the standing broad jump, just an inch behind the leader with a jump of 11-feet, 3 inches.
This year's wide receiver group churned out the fastest times seen at the NFL Combine in the 40-yard dash. Weston ran 4.42 seconds to find a spot at No. 11.
Weston led the FCS with yards per reception. He amassed 883 receiving yards, averaging 23.86 yards a reception and 73.58 yards per game. His longest reception was 68 yards against North Dakota State. Weston reeled in five touchdowns last season and recorded three games this season with more than 100 receiving yards.Â
He capped his senior year playing in the Hula Bowl and NFLPA Bowl following his collegiate season. He earned Phil Steele FCS all-MVFC Second Team Offense and special teams honors and was named to MVFC All-Conference Second Team Offense, also earning all-purpose honors.
