UNI Volleyball to face Wisconsin in spring matchup

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The UNI spring volleyball season rolls on this Friday night as the Panthers face off against the reigning national champion Wisconsin Badgers on the University of Dubuque campus. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Stoltz Sports Center.

While online tickets have sold out, potential walk-up tickets may be available at the door free of charge beginning at 7:30 p.m. All parking lots will be open for spectators on campus, while concession sales will also be available during set breaks.

Friday's match-up is the third of four competitions the Panthers are competing in during the 2022 spring season. The Panthers finished 1-2 on April 2 at Iowa State's spring tournament in Ames, and played four matches at the UMKC Tournament last Saturday in Kansas City, where UNI dropped its first match 2-0 to Kansas State before tying Arkansas, 1-1. UNI would go on to sweep Kansas 2-0 in its third match, and tie UMKC, 1-1 to close out the afternoon.

Following Friday's match in Dubuque, the Panthers will return home next Saturday, April 23 to close out the spring campaign in the UNI Spring Tournament, taking on North Dakota State, Iowa State, Iowa and Missouri at the Campus-Recreation Center. All matches are free of charge to the public. Match times are available on the UNI Volleyball website schedule.

THE BADGERS

Wisconsin finished the previous season with a 31-3 record overall, and 17-3 mark in Big Ten play en route to an NCAA championship win over Nebraska last December in Columbus, Ohio.
The Badgers have posted three consecutive wins during the spring season, including a 3-0 sweep of Green Bay and 3-1 victories over UIC and Marquette.
Wisconsin is led by Kelly Sheffield, who is entering his 10th season at the helm of the Badger program with 236 wins since arriving in Madison, as well as three straight Big Ten championships and Final Four appearances.
Julia Orzol returns as Wisconsin's leading attacker, posting 309 kills in her first collegiate season. Orzol also ranked 3rd last season for the Badgers with 229 digs.
Izzy Ashburn led the Badgers at the service line with a team-high 52 aces last season.
Devyn Robinson returns as Wisconsin's top blocker after notching 121 total blocks at the net in 2021.
