UNI tennis closes out home season with loss to Illinois State, 5-2

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI women's tennis fell to the Missouri Valley Conference preseason favorites, Illinois State, 5-2.
The Panthers are now 4-12 overall and 0-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Illinois State improved to 13-6 overall and 3-1 in the MVC.
Freshman Lorena Cardoso won at No. 2 singles, and senior Olivia Fain earned a point at No. 6 singles for UNI. Illinois State was able to sweep UNI in doubles to get the early lead.
The UNI team honored two Panthers wrapping up their tennis careers at UNI. Olivia Fain and Emma Carr are both planning to pursue graduate degrees. Carr is graduating and early and using her extra COVID-19 year of eligibility to continue competing while completing a graduate degree.
